Graduation Project - "Onthecht"

My Jewish great grandparents were killed in death camp Sobibór, on the 4th of June 1943. Before they got deported, they made sure my grandmother (who was 11 months old at the time) got into hiding. Luckily, my grandmother survived the Holocaust. I want to share their story and find out more about my family in the process.

'Onthecht' is an interactive narrative about the lives of Jewish parents Hartog and Sientje Witsenhuijsen, and their tragic fate in deathcamp Sobibór. It was developed to give a voice to the people who were almost completely erased from history, and have them be memorialized forever.

The product of extensive family research, 'Onthecht' gives the player a look into who Hartog and Sientje were, besides their Jewish heritage. It aims to honour the people who have been dehumanized and forgotten, in hopes to keep their memory alive.
